English Foxhound

The English Foxhound of the Hound Group, like its American cousin is a scent hound, bred to hunt foxes and when fully grown this breed will weigh between 65 and 75 pounds. The skill of this breed is wide and its muzzle is long with a sweet expression to the eyes. Their legs are straight known and muscular with a round almost catlike paw.

Description Of The English Foxhound

Originally bred as a pack hound, they are good around other dogs, horses, children and other pets. This breed is gentle, social and tolerant. This breed is slower than the American Foxhound but will run all day with very few breaks in between. It is a very active breed and enjoys hunting.

Wellness Worries

The English Foxhound of the Hound Group average lifespan is from 10 to 13 years of age, but British Clubs have been known to put down the working pounds at 6 to 7 years of age. As with all purebreds this breed has their health problems which are hip dysplasia, retinal disease and epilepsy. Like with all breeds, do your research before you buy!
